A THY Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration TC-LOC performing flight TK-1046 from Bucharest Otopeni (Romania) to Istanbul (Turkey) with 258 passengers and 10 crew, lined up runway 26L at 22:32L (19:32Z), however aligned with the right runway edge instead of the center line. The aircraft accelerated following the edge line and became airborne still aligned with the edge line and continued the flight to Istanbul where the aircraft landed without further incident. After landing the aircraft taxied to the apron when the crew reported problems with the nose gear.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Istanbul for 8 days before returning to service.

Romania's AIAS reported the aircraft destroyed 10 edge lights on the north side of the runway as well as a information board at taxiway G, a section of the northern runway shoulder was found peeled off along the area where the edge lights had been fractured. The edge lights were repaired without need to interrupt service of the runway and without the need for NOTAMs. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated.
