A Westjet Encore de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GWEJ performing flight WR-3367 from Calgary,AB to Nanaimo,BC (Canada) with 82 people on board, was on approach to Nanaimo when the crew needed to perform a missed approach due to weather conditions and decided to divert to their alternate Kelowna,BC (Canada), however, the approach to Kelowna was not immediately available due to traffic. After assessing the situation the crew declared Mayday and landed safely in Kelowna.
The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft landed with 200 lbs less fuel than had be determined the minimum fuel reserve.
