A German Airways Embraer ERJ-190 on behalf of Binter Canarias, registration D-AZFA performing flight NT-5702 from Las Palmas,CI to Murcia,SP (Spain) with 60 passengers and 6 crew, was on approach to Murcia when the crew aborted the descent at about 6500 feet due to problems with the flaps. The aircraft entered a hold at 9000 feet while the crew worked the checklists, then the crew decided to divert to Madrid,SP (Spain) for a safe landing on runway 32R at a higher than normal speed about 75 minutes after aborted the descent into Murcia.

A passenger reported the aircraft aborted the approach to Murcia due to a flaps fail condition and diverted to Madrid for a landing on runway 32R with emergency services already awaiting the aircraft.

The aircraft positioned back to Las Palmas about 24 hours after landing, remained on the ground in Las Palmas for another 17 hours, then departed for flight NT-5702 of Nov 24th 2023, but needed to return to Las Palmas. The aircraft returned to service about 29 hours after that return to Las Palmas of Nov 24th 2023. The airline reported the aircraft returned to Las Palmas on Nov 24th 2023 due to "operational reasons".
