A Malta Air Boeing 737-800 on behalf of Ryanair, registration 9H-VVL performing flight
FR-3011 from Madrid,SP to Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) with 181 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing through about 4500 feet out of Madrid's runway 36R when a large bird impacted the aircraft at the left hand side. In the absence of any abnormal indications the crew continued the flight to destination for a safe landing about one hour after departure.
Spain's CIAIAC reported however, that post flight checks revealed the inner part of the leading edge flap of the left wing was broken and detached. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained minor damage. The CIAIAC opened an investigation.
