A Ryanair Boeing 737-8 MAX, registration EI-IJT performing flight FR-2848 from Shannon (Ireland) to Malaga,SP (Spain), was climbing through about FL240 out of Shannon, already south of Cork, when the aircraft received a lightning strike prompting the crew to stop the climb at FL270 and return to Shannon, where the aircraft landed safely on runway 06 about 50 minutes after departure.

The return flight was performed by a replacement aircraft.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about one hour, then departed again and reached Malaga with a delay of about 2:45 hours.
