A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-DCK performing flight FR-3142 from Milan Bergamo (Italy) to Barcelona,SP (Spain), was on final approach to runway 06L when the aircraft initiated a go around at about 1600 feet MSL and turned right.

At the same time another Ryanair Boeing 737-8 Max, registration EI-IJJ performing flight FR-2918 from Barcelona,SP (Spain) to Brussels (Belgium), was departing runway 06R.

FR-3142 crossed the extended runway center line at about the end of the runway.

Spain's CIAIAC opened an investigation reporting:

On Thursday 12 September 2024, there was a loss of separation between two aircraft operating at Barcelona Airport. The airport operated with two parallel runways: runway 06R for takeoffs and runway 06L for landings.

Aircraft 1, an outbound flight bound for Brussels (Belgium), began its takeoff run at 15:21 from runway 06R, while aircraft 2, from Milan (Italy), began a missed approach manoeuvre to runway 06L.

During the execution of the maneuver, aircraft 2 deviated to the right, flying over the end of runway 06R and describing the same takeoff path as the departing traffic, causing the two aircraft to come together and generating several conflict alert warnings in the air traffic control systems.

There were no personal or material damages and the aircraft completed their flights without incident.
