A TAP Air Portugal Airbus A320-200, registration CS-TNT performing flight TP-1015 from Madrid,SP (Spain) to Lisbon (Portugal), was accelerating for takeoff from Madrid's runway 36L when the crew rejected takeoff at high speed (about 140 knots over ground). The aircraft slowed safely and returned to the apron. The aircraft vacated the runway at the turn off about 3300 meters/10000 feet down the runway and returned to the apron.

A passenger reported the crew announced they had rejected takeoff due to an engine (CFM56) problem.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto the next flights.
